Total Newbie

Hi guys... 20 yr old from antipolo here
I'm really interested in penspinning... a few members from my previous community (speed cubing community) has discussed this one a couple of times... so i decided to find a pinoy penspinning community...

i'm a complete newbie in pen spinning and i really really dont know where to start...
IMO in order to practice.. i really have to buy a good pen right?? will someone can give some pointers on how to start?? xD

i managed 30s lng.. pero d ko na kaya yan since ive start spinning..^__^

my official best is 15 secs... 11 secs personal best... i already quitted speed cubing... but i still have my cubes lol... dumami na kasi ang naglalaro ng rubiks... -_-"

so to start... ano una kong gagawin?? i'm sure if dumiretso ako sa panunuod ng tutorial videos nyo.. duduguin lang ako... i already read threads about pen modification... GANON pala yon?? nagsisira kayo ng ballpens ahaha (no offense huh?) pero nagulat talaga ako nung nakita kong kinakalas nyo ung ballpens lalo na ung mga pilot pens wtf xD well at least mas tipid to kesa speedcubing...

thumb finger = T
index finger = 1
middle finger = 2
ring finger = 3
pinky finger = 4

sa mod nmn:
dpat magsimula ka sa light mods para d ka mahirapan kung lilipat ka ng ibang weight na mod...
ito examples ng light mods na available sa pinas, check mo nlng sa UPSB tutorials nla or ask ka nlng sa ibang members d2..
eto examples ng light mods(search mo nlng sa google)

PEN SPINNING has 2 divisions, modding and spinning...
may iba magaling magspin, may iba nmn magaling magmod..

game's right. you should start of simple, then improve at your own pace.

and also most people get the idea of "the heavier the better" on pen mods. well, this isn't necessarily correct since it would just damage your hand and you'll lose your ability to spin lighter mods.

and i recommend watching eso's tutorials. ("akujinnoeso" on youtube) he's one the best tutors on penspinning ive seen so far. goodluck! :P

actually, kahit ung paglalaro ng rubik's cube pwde rin panggalingan ng carpal tunnel.. ^^
i know u hurt ur hands too while cubing..

nararanasan ko yan sa one hand cubing.. medyo malaki kasi ang rubiks cube ko.. xD

btw.. thumb around pala tawag doon.. yun ung madalas ko gawin pag may klase at un ung kaisaisang trick na alam ko

now na alam mo ung thumb around, try the reverse..
then try TA harmonic...

the reverse freaks me out... it makes my pen go airborne lol
i watched TA harmonic.. i was like.. WTF?? xD and yet.. these are basics >.>

hindi ko maintindihan ung sa reverse.. naka curl ung pointing finger.. at hindi ko magawang maibalik...

kung sa tingin mo impossible ung trick, practice lang mggwa mo din. ganun din ako nung umpisa ibang tricks di kaya 1 week para ma master....

akujinnoeso's tutorial rocks... naexplain niya lahat... nagstuck din sa akin dun sa thumb at pointer pag ginagawa ung push... but then nasa video pala ung solution kasi common pala ung problem na yon pag naguumpisa.. akala ko dahil sa kamay ko na pasaway xD

so for now focus muna ako sa Thumb around noh? kelangan magawa ko ung harmonic xD

should i learn TA harmonic first before charge???

sinusubukan ko kasi ung charge.. at hirap na hirap talaga ako... each time i try the charge.. nagiging sideways lng ung pen ko.. ayaw mag circular -_-"

btw.. bictory mode ung ginawa ko... but it seems its waay lighter than i imagined... weight matters right??

no dude, you should consider light mods. and you might find charge trick difficult pero practice lang don't stop doing it till you see improvements later on
learning TA harmonic is as patient as learing charge and some of the fundamentals so keep it up

i can do a single charge as of now... un nga lang.. isa lang kaya ko...

i dont know why pero parang ayaw ng kamay ko sa light mods... i tried doing TA and TA reverse on my sign pen nagagawa ko naman xa kahit papaano (lol na lang ako sa TA reverse). pero pag ung bictory mod na ung gagamitin ko... lumilipad xa -_-"

may kinalaman kaya ung pagiging speedcuber ko kaya mabigat tong mga daliri ko?

bro, may grips ba each side ng mod mo? try putting grip on each side, dagdag weight din un, tska matutulungan ka din nun kun magpprktis ka ng infinity at wipers...

it has nothing to do with cubbing where you excert your efforts on the cube by rotating the cube. but on the pen, you glide the pen through your fingers by getting the right balance and momentum. if you consider medum weight mod(as if naman alam ko kung ano yung medium weighted mod :P) then check from our site some good mods.

It's just a matter of practice man. ^_^ kaya mu yan. Ganto kasi, sa charge, ganto teknik dyn e, mag TIPPED charge ka muna. (when u see the "tipped" thing, it means that the pen don't rotate it's just moving in a see-saw motion). Pag nagagwa mo na ung Tipped charge, try to close your hand tpos open + tipped charge. In that way, you'll be able to do it in just minutes. For me that's the best way to explain that trick.

1. Tipped charge + Closed Fingers
2. Open it a little bit (nagti-tipped charge k parin dyan ha)
3. Close again (dito rin)
4. Do it repetitively
